RUNAWAY PREVENTION PROGRAM FACILITATOR – TORONTO/GTA WEST
1-YEAR FULL-TIME CONTRACT POSITION – 35 HOURS PER WEEK

The successful applicant will be a dynamic individual who can engage youth. He/she will be responsible for:
  • Delivering consistent, engaging 75–150 minute presentations to student groups as large as 500+
  • Delivering up to four presentations per day (up to 6 hours talk time) during busy periods
  • Set-up, breakdown and transportation of Audio-Visual equipment and supplies
  • Booking/scheduling presentations, stewarding relationships with schools 
  • Assisting with program marketing including mailing, cold-calling and other duties as required
  • Completing reports, recording statistics and other administrative tasks as required
  • Educating students about contributing factors to youth homelessness, including child abuse/neglect, mental health, drugs/alcohol, bullying, online luring/exploitation, and stress; creating a strong sense of hope for youth to make better choices and linking them with appropriate local resources and/or agencies
  • Educating students about the reality and hardship of street life and encouraging social responsibility
  • Educating students about sex trafficking, including luring/grooming warning signs and tips to protect themselves
  • Assisting in presentation content updates to ensure information is relevant/responsive to current youth trends/issues 
  • Assisting in program materials/resource lists updates
  • Documenting disclosures of abuse and reporting them to the appropriate child welfare agency and Supervisor
  • Educating students about Covenant House Toronto, its services and its school fundraising initiatives
  • Cultivating prospects and support for Covenant House Toronto, including departmental collaboration
  • Receiving donations from schools on behalf of Covenant House Toronto; stewardship of donors 
  • Managing a flexible 35-hr work week, including early mornings, some evenings/weekends to accommodate presentations
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A University degree or College diploma in Social Services or related discipline
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Public speaking/stage experience delivering creative and dynamic presentations
  • Minimum two years of experience working with youth
  • Knowledge of issues affecting street-involved youth a definite asset
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to youth in culturally diverse communities
  • Excellent communication, performance and group facilitation skills
  • Excellent administrative, time-management and skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Proficiency with Windows software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Flexibility to travel daily through Toronto and GTA with regular access to a reliable vehicle and business travel insurance coverage
  • Ability to move/lift/carry two 50-lb wheeled bags (100 lbs. total) containing Audio-Visual equipment and supplies 
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge Database is an asset
