Marketing Communications Coordinator
Permanent - 35 Hours per week

As Canada’s largest agency serving at-risk, homeless and trafficked youth, Covenant House Toronto changes lives by providing the widest range of services and support to as many as 250 youth a day. A national leader, we educate and advocate for change by influencing public policy and delivering prevention and awareness programs. More than a place to stay, we provide 24/7 crisis shelter and transitional housing on-site and in the community, along with comprehensive services including education, counselling, health care, employment assistance, job training and aftercare. To do all this, we rely on donors for more than 80 percent of our $27-million annual operating budget. Our doors are open to youth 16 to 24 regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or the circumstances that have brought them to our doors. Since opening our doors in 1982, Covenant House has served almost 95,000 young people.

Purpose of position: To support the brand and position of Covenant House by coordinating internal and external communications and marketing activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Managing production
• Maintain production schedule for Communications team
• Help set up and improve workflow processes when and where needed
• Route materials for review and approval
• Work with vendors to establish quotes, production schedules and delivery of materials
• Act as designated proofreader for Communications pieces
• Write speaking points for selected events
• Coordinate the translation of communications materials
• Champion the agency’s brand identity across all developed materials
o Ensure logo and brand standards are consistently maintained internally and externally
o Liaise with staff and external partners to provide the guidance and technical support on maintaining brand standards

Management of systems and processes
• Lead annual review of all Communications materials to ensure alignment with statistics and key message changes
• Ensure department compliance with established policies and procedures
• Manage stock photo collection
• Manage media release forms to ensure proper permissions are obtained and expiration dates on photo consents are honoured

• Assist at in-house media events, including logistics and on-the-ground social media posting
• Respond to questions and facilitate tour requests from donors and the general public

• Handle basic digital projects including web updates and scheduling of social media content

Evaluation, analysis and reporting
• Track social media metrics and generate monthly and campaign/event specific reports
• Produce reports for the Communications team to facilitate strategic planning

University degree or college diploma in marketing, advertising, communications, public relations or journalism.

• Minimum two years of professional communications and/or marketing experience
• Proficiency in MS Office and professional use of social media channels (esp. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram) required

• Strong writing, editing and organizations skills
• Problem-solving and adaptability
• Detail and accuracy
