In November, business leaders across North America sleep out so kids don’t have to as they raise money and awareness for homeless youth. This unique experiential event is very impactful, as over 92% of all funds go directly to Covenant House programs and youth.

Sleep Out 2016
On Nov. 17, 2016,
seventy of the city’s top business and community leaders slept out and raised
more than $1 million for homeless kids at Covenant House. With only a sleeping
bag and cardboard, participants in the fourth annual Covenant House Executive
Sleep Out spent the night on the cold pavement in freezing temperatures.

participants included Paul Rivett, Fairfax Financial president, Doug Mizzi, TJX
Canada president, Amanda Lang, journalist, Police Chief Mark Saunders, and
Event Committee Chair Mike George, president, Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company.
During the evening, the group toured the house, the neighbourhood and sleepers
returning for their third year attended a panel discussion on issues facing
homeless youth. They also sat down for discussions with current and former youth.
The local effort was part of an international event that happened
simultaneously at 15 other Covenant House sites across North America, including
