Marketing Manager
Two Year Contract - 35 Hours per week

As Canada’s largest agency serving at-risk, homeless and trafficked youth, Covenant House Toronto changes lives by providing the widest range of services and support to as many as 250 youth a day. A national leader, we educate and advocate for change by influencing public policy and delivering prevention and awareness programs. More than a place to stay, we provide 24/7 crisis shelter and transitional housing on-site and in the community, along with comprehensive services including education, counselling, health care, employment assistance, job training and aftercare. To do all this, we rely on donors for more than 80 percent of our $27-million annual operating budget. Our doors are open to youth 16 to 24 regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or the circumstances that have brought them to our doors. Since opening our doors in 1982, Covenant House has served almost 95,000 young people.

Purpose of Position

To strengthen Covenant House’s position in the marketplace as an expert source and advocate for homeless, at-risk and trafficked youth through strategic mission-based marketing strategies and integrated communications channels, with a strong focus on digital marketing.

Key result areas:

Prevention Marketing Support
Continue work to position Covenant House as a leader within the sector, especially in the area of sex trafficking prevention.
 Assist with the re-brand of the Runaway Prevention Program, ensuring content is relevant to the program’s future development.
 Explore vehicles to extend the reach of our Runaway Prevention Program outside of the traditional in-school presentation format.
 Assist with the development and roll-out of our human trafficking awareness and prevention campaign aimed at Canadian teen girls.

Traffick Stop Marketing Strategy
 In collaboration with a project manager handling the agency’s digital strategy, provide strategy and specifications for the development of this online resource hub.
 Develop a strategy to market communications products on the website and through other channels.
 Create a co-branding strategy, including certifications, training and development (to industry and vulnerable youth sector) that aligns with Covenant House’s mission and marketing goals.
 Work with agency’s public relations staff to launch the website, focusing on key resource items.

Agency Support
 Support the strategic marketing efforts of other teams within Development and Communications and Program by working with them to develop objectives, project plans, creative briefs and evaluation methods to determine project success.
 Review and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained for all marketing initiatives.
 Work with communications staff to develop appropriate creative assets and copy required to execute campaigns/events.
 Assist with ad campaigns by ensuring consistency of brand positioning on multi-media assets.
 Manage video projects from the concept and storyboarding process to production and editing.


 Business or marketing related degree or equivalent professional qualification.
 Seven years of experience in management and development of marketing strategies with a minimum of three years in digital marketing.
 Demonstrated knowledge of applying analytic insights with best practices to develop and improve marketing campaigns.
 Experience in managing video production teams.
 Proven experience in customer and market research.
 Experience in the not-for-profit sector is an asset.
